A comeback victory was needed for Argentina to win the CSV Women’s Olympic Qualifier. Overall, four teams competed in a round robin tournament where the winner qualified to the Olympics. The CSV Women’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament was held in Bogota, Colombia from January 7th to January 9th 2020.
The first two round of matches saw Argentina and Colombia triumph over Peru and Venezuela in straight sets, making the final match between the two nations the decider. Colombia won the first set 25-16, but Argentina would go on to win the next three sets to win the title and an Olympic quota. Third place was won by Venezuela who defeated Peru 3-0 during the final rotation of matches.
This will be Argentina’s second appearance in women’s indoor volleyball as they made their Olympic debut at the 2016 Olympics. This time, Argentina will be hoping to advance to the quarter-finals. Volleyball qualification continues tomorrow with one quota decided at the European Men’s Qualifier.
