Volleyball: Argentina Pulls Double at CSV Continental Cup Final as Beach Volleyball Qualification Draws to a Close

Argentina pulled off the double by winning both events at the 2018-2020 CSV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Final. Each team is made up of two beach volleyball pairs where each team played the other two teams for a total of four games. Should it end 2-2 a fifth game containing only a single set is played up to 15. Four teams participated in a single elimination tournament.

The women’s event was played in Asuncion, Paraguay from June 26th to June 27th 2021. The first match went to a golden set as Colombia and Venezuela tied 2-2. Venezuela won the set 18-16 to advance to the final. They were joined by Argentina who after losing the first match against Paraguay, won the next three to win 3-1. Argentina won the event after winning the first three match, the fourth match was not played.

The men’s event was played in Santiago, Chile from June 26th to June 27th 2021. As with the women, Venezuela and Argentina advanced to the finals. Venezuela defeated Chile 3-1 while Argentina won over Uruguay 3-1. In the final, Venezuela won the first match, but Argentina would win the next three to win the title and Olympic quota.

This was the final opportunity for CSV nations to qualify to the Olympics. This concludes the qualification process for beach volleyball.
