Triathlon: World Triathlon Confirms Mixed Team Qualifiers via Finalization of Mixed Relay Olympic Rankings

World Triathlon has confirmed that no events in 2021 will contribute towards the Mixed Relay Olympic Qualification Ranking, leaving the rankings unchanged since they were frozen in March 2020. The rankings were split into two qualifying periods where the five best results from approved events with a maximum of three per period contributed to their rank. The top seven nations qualified a mixed relay team to the Olympics along with qualifying two athletes each in the men’s and women’s individual race.

The rankings were topped by France whom finished with a total of 4134.50 points. This was over 100 points ahead of second place Australia (4013.79 points) while the United States was third with 3764.63 points. Rounding out the top seven are Great Britain (3611.45 points), New Zealand (3500.45 points), Germany (3229.29 points) and the Netherlands (2916.88 points).

Unqualified teams can still qualify in the mixed relay through the mixed relay qualification event scheduled for this Friday.
