Qualification Summary
Each National Olympic Committee can enter a maximum of 6 athletes (3 men and 3 women) with a maximum of two athletes per individual event and one team in the mixed and team events. As hosts, Japan will be given the maximum quota should they fail to qualify while 2 quotas (1 man and 1 woman), will be decided by the Tripartite Commission. The remaining quotas will be decided through various continental and world events and through the world rankings.
Nations which qualified a team will automatically qualify two athletes to compete in the individual events while nations which qualified both in mixed doubles and the team event must select the same athlete to compete in both events.
