Qualification Summary
In Beach Volleyball each National Olympic Committee can enter a maximum of two teams of two athletes in each event. As hosts, Japan will qualify a team in each event and will be eligible to qualify a second team. The remaining quotas will be decided through various events specifically, the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships, the Olympic Qualification Tournament, the Olympic Ranking List, published on June 13th 2021 and the 2018-21 Continental Cup. Additionally, all selected athletes must have participated in a minimum of 12 approved events between 2018 and 2021.
For Indoor Volleyball each National Olympic Committee can enter a maximum of one team in each event (12 men and 12 women). As hosts, Japan will be given a spot to compete in each event. The remaining quotas will be decided through various events, specifically, six Intercontinental Qualification Tournaments and the Continental Qualification Tournaments.
