Shooting: Lodde Equals Men’s Skeet Qualification World Record En Route to Lahti World Cup Title

Lodde won his second World Cup event, the first since 2014 in the men’s skeet at the 2019 Shotgun World Cup. In terms of Olympic qualification, the two highest ranked eligible athletes qualified their nation to the games. The Shotgun World Cup is currently being held in Lahti, Finland from August 13th to August 23rd 2019.

Italy’s Luigi Lodde had a perfect performance during the qualification round where he hit all 125 targets. The chasing pack contained four athletes whom all hit 122/125 targets. The final came down to Lodde and France’s Eric Delaunay whom both finished with 55/60 targets hit. In the ensuing shoot-off Lodde hit his first four targets while Delaunay missed his fourth shot allowing Lodde to win the title. Delaunay won the Olympic quota along with third place finisher Azmy Mehelba of Egypt.

This was the final World Cup event for men’s skeet. Athletes can still qualify via their respective continental qualifiers or through the world rankings.
