Papua New Guinea

History

Papua New Guinea made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1976. They would go on to participate in the 1980 boycott led by the United States. Since 1984 the nation has competed at all subsequent Olympics. Papua New Guinea typically sends a small delegation of around 10 athletes to each Olympics with the athletes generally competing in athletics, boxing, swimming and weightlifting. Papua New Guinea has yet to win its first Olympic medal.
