United Arab Emirates

History

The United Arab Emirates made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1984 and has competed ever since. The nation sends a small delegation with around 10 athletes competing at each Olympics. The athletes typically compete in athletics, cycling, shooting and swimming. In total, the United Arab Emirates has won two medals; a gold medal in 2004 from sport shooter Ahmed Al Maktoum (men’s double trap) and during the 2016 Olympics judoka Sergiu Toma won bronze in the men’s -81kg.
