Tajikistan

History

Tajikistan made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1996, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and has competed ever since. The nation sends a small delegation of around 10 athletes to compete at each Olympics. The athletes typically compete in athletics, boxing, judo, swimming and wrestling. In total the nation has won four medals across four sports; athletics, boxing, judo and wrestling. In 2016 Tajikistan won a single medal, a gold medal by hammer thrower Dilshod Nazarov.
