History
Kyrgyzstan made its first Summer Olympic appearance 1996, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and has competed ever since. The nation sends a delegation of around 20 athletes whom compete in various sports such as, athletics, boxing, judo, shooting, swimming, weightlifting and wrestling. Kyrgyzstan has won a total of four medals with the first one coming in 2000 where judoka Aidyn Smagulov won bronze in the men’s -60kg event. The other three came in 2008 and were all won by wrestlers.
