Kazakhstan

History

Kazakhstan made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1996 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and has competed ever since. The nation sends a large delegation with around 100 athletes per Olympics whom compete in a large number of sports including; athletics, boxing, judo, weightlifting and wrestling. Kazakhstan has won a medal at every Olympics it has competed in. In total the nation has won 61 medals across 10 sports. The most successful sports are boxing (22), wrestling (16) and weightlifting (8). In 2016 Kazakhstan won 17 medals.
