History
Uganda made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1956 and has competed ever since, with the exception of 1976 where it participated in the African boycott. The nation sends a small team with over 10 athletes typically competing at each Olympics. The athletes compete in various sports including athletics, boxing, swimming and weightlifting.
Uganda won its first medal in 1968 and has won a total of seven medals across two sports; four in boxing and three in athletics. The most successful athlete is boxer Leo Rwabwogo whom won a bronze medal in 1968 in men’s flyweight and followed up with a silver medal at the 1972 Olympics. In 2016 Uganda failed to win a medal.
