Somalia made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1972. It then took part in two boycotts, the African boycott in 1976 and the United States led boycott in 1980. The nation then took part in all subsequent Olympics with the exception of 1992. Somalia sends a very small delegation with only two athletes competing at each Olympics since 2000, where the only sport they have ever competed in is athletics. The nation has yet to win its first Olympic medal.
