History

Libya made its first Summer Olympic appearance in 1964 and has competed at most Olympics since. The nation missed the 1972 Olympics, participated in the 1976 African boycott and participated in the Soviet Union led boycott of 1984. The nation typically sends a small delegation with fewer than 10 athletes competing. The athletes typically compete in athletics, cycling, judo, swimming, taekwondo and weightlifting. Libya has yet to win its first Olympic medal.
