Ibrahim wins gold in the women’s artistic individual all-around event on the opening day of the 2021 African Gymnastics Championships. The event also doubled as the African qualifiers for the Olympics where the two highest ranked eligible athletes qualified to the games. The African Gymnastics Championships are currently being held in Cairo, Egypt from May 26th to May 27th 2021.
The women’s individual all-around event was won by Egypt’s Zeina Ibrahim. She finished with a score of 50.200 points. This was 1.800 points ahead of her compatriot, Farah Hussein, the 2019 African Games gold medalist. The second Olympic quota was won by South Africa’s Naveen Davis.
The African Championships continues tomorrow with the men’s artistic individual all-around event along with the trampoline event.
