The tripartite commission has awarded the Olympic quotas for artistic gymnastics. One man and one woman were chosen by the commission. Eligible nations were able to send applications in order to receive an invitation quota in various sports. The spots were awarded to Albania’s Matvei Petrov and Cayman Islands’ Raegen Rutty.
Additionally, a few reallocation spots were announced. The first is the returned women’s quota from North Korea who will not compete at the Olympics. The spot was reallocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete at the 2019 World Championships, specifically Ireland’s Megan Ryan. With the cancellation of the 2021 Asian Championships, the Asian quotas were awarded to the two highest ranked eligible Asian athletes. For the men’s events the quotas went to Vietnam’s Dinh Phuong Thanh and Malaysia’s Jeremiah Loo while for the women it went to Sri Lanka’s Milka Gehani and India’s Pranati Nayak.
This concludes the qualification process for artistic gymnastics. All that remains is for nations to confirm their quotas.
