Russia qualified in team dressage for the first time as an independent nation by winning the 2019 Dressage Group C Olympic Qualification Event. In terms of Olympic qualification, the highest eligible team qualified their nation to the team event. Group C consist of nations from Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The Dressage Group C Olympic Qualification Events was held in conjunction with other events in Moscow, Russia from June 20th to June 23rd 2019.
Two eligible nations; Belarus and Russia participated in this event. Overall, Russia won the head to head match with a total score of 210.131% over Belarus’ 198.717%. The top performer for Russia was Elena Sidneva whom scored a 72.022% while for Belarus it was Hanna Karasiova whom scored 69.804%.
Athletes which are selected to the team event will also be eligible to compete in the individual event. Additionally, all athletes must achieve the minimum eligibility requirements in order to be allowed to compete. This was the final opportunity for Group C nations to qualify to the team event. They can still qualify for the individual event via the Olympic rankings.
