The FINA Diving World Cup is currently being held in Tokyo, Japan from May 1st to May 6th 2021.

For most of the preliminary round of the women’s 3m springboard it was the United States’ Sarah Bacon whom led all athletes, but a disastrous final dive where she ranked 40th caused her to drop to third, allowing China’s Chang Yani to win the round with a score of 350.50. The Olympic quotas were won by the United States (Sarah Bacon), Mexico (Aranza Vazquez), the United States (Samantha Pickens), Ukraine (Anna Pysmenska), Japan (Haruka Enamoto), Sweden (Emma Gullstrand), Switzerland (Michelle Heimberg), Great Britain (Scarlett Mew Jensen), Brazil (Luana Lira), South Africa (Julia Vincent) and South Korea (Kum Su-ji).

Chen would repeat that performance in the finals were she took the lead after the second dive to win gold with a score of 383.55. Silver went to Bacon (348.75) while bronze was won by Chang (344.40).

The men’s 10m platform preliminary round was topped by Great Britain’s Tom Daley whom held the lead during the entire session to finish with a total of 508.30. Ternovoi would have a relatively poor final performance ultimately finishing ninth. This allowed Daley to win gold with a score of 541.70.
