Diving: 39 Year Old Terauchi Wins Men’s 3m Springboard Gold at Asian Cup

Medals and an Olympic quota were awarded today in the men’s 3m springboard at the 2019 Asian Diving Cup. Only the winner is eligible to win the quota, provided that they have not already qualified their nation and their nation has not reached the maximum quota. The Asian Diving Cup is currently being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from September 6th to September 8th 2019.

The men’s 3m springboard was won by Japan’s Ken Terauchi. The 39 year old won gold and the Olympic quota with a score of 426.10. This was over 17 points ahead of Malaysia’s Chew Yiwei (409.05 points) whom barely defeated his compatriot, Ooi Tze Liang (408.75 points).

Other nations will have one more opportunity to qualify in the men’s 3m springboard where they will compete at the 2020 Diving World Cup. The next continental qualifier for this event will be in Oceania, to be held in December. The Asian Diving Cup concludes tomorrow.
