China had a clean sweep in the women’s cross-country event at the 2019 Asian Mountain Biking Championships. The highest ranked eligible nation qualifies a quota to the Olympics. The Asian Mountain Biking Championship was held in Kfardebian, Lebanon from July 25th to July 28th 2019.
The race was won by 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Yao Bianwa of China whom finished the course in 1:20:13. This was over one minute ahead of her compatriots Yao Ping and 2018 Asian Championship gold medalist Li Hongfeng whom finished with a time of 1:21:54 and 1:22:33 respectively. In fact, China finished with the top 4 placings. The next best ranked nation was fifth place Faranak Partoazar of Iran.
As a reminder, the Olympic Nation Rankings will have priority over the continental championships so while China may currently hold the qualification quota, it may eventually be transferred to another nation should they qualify through the rankings. The event concludes tomorrow with the men’s cross-country race.
