The tripartite commission has awarded the quotas for badminton. In total three men’s singles and three women’s singles quotas were originally available. Eligible nations were able to send applications in order to receive an invitation quota in various sports.
In the men’s singles the quotas were awarded to Sri Lanka’s Niluka Karunaratne, Suriname’s Soren Opti and Malta’s Matthew Abela. On the women’s side only two quotas were awarded, Pakistan’s Mahoor Shahzad and Maldives’ Fathimath Abdul Razzaq. The third quota will be reallocated to the highest ranked eligible athlete.
