A news release by the International Olympic Committee has stated that the 2020 Summer Olympics have been postponed due to the spread of COVID-19. Currently, no date has been proposed, but it will be held no later than the summer of 2021. The event will still use the year 2020, even if it is held in 2021.
This gives national federations more opportunity to select their competitors in a safe manner and allows sport federations to complete their qualification process. In the coming weeks it is expected that sport federations will alter their qualification process as many events require to be rescheduled. We will continue to follow the qualification process for these Olympic games.
